In unimaginable conditions, women and girls are searching in overcrowded shelters and the rubble of the streets for safe havens from airstrikes. Yet nowhere and no one is safe in Gaza. Once displaced, families seek shelter wherever they can, including facilities identified by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) or with host families, who also face security risks. As the war continues, people in Gaza are experiencing a near-total erosion of individual and collective coping mechanisms. Tensions are rising within families and communities, which in turn increases concerns about gender-related protection risks, including gender-based violence
